My son came home a couple years ago complaining about the politics in his grade six class. It was precious and I thought the story of a rivalry between separate social factions in a classroom would make a good TV show. I wrote a bible and pilot script, got some characters designed and then showed it to Frank Falcone and Mary Bredin at Guru Studio. We decided to partner on the project and pitch it to Teletoon.
Teletoon put it into development which means they paid for a bible, some scripts and new character designs. Bell New Media Fund paid for a digital pilot. I like it. Everything went right. But it wasn't picked up in the end. Or, to put it more positively, it hasn't happened yet. One more thing I don't miss about the entertainment industry!
A big shout out to Mike Cameron and Tom Berger who produced and directed the pilot.
